Grow Baby Grow!

Emma had her two month well visit yesterday.  I’m not sure how it’s even possible but she gained 4lbs and 4 inches in a month.  I knew she was feeling bigger but I thought it was all in my head.  Sure she had outgrown all her newborn stuff a while ago…and was inching closer to being too big for all the 0-3 month stuff we had…but maybe all those clothes were just on the smaller side of the size scale.  There’s no way she was going to end up in 3-6 month clothes already.  Well, it looks like that’s the case.  I’ve packed some of the too-small outfits away already and am prepping to bring out the next round.

When we found out that Emma was due to be born in the Spring (the same as Alexa) I was hopeful she would be a girl just so she could wear all the favorites I had saved from Alexa’s stash.  Then when her sex was confirmed I started sorting through all the clothes that actually ended up in storage.  I just assumed Emma would grow on the same schedule as her sister so she should fit into most of the same outfits in the correct season.

It looks like I was wrong.  Not only are both of my girls completely different shaped babies (Alexa was somewhat toddler shaped from birth while Emma is full and round like a “normal” baby) but Emma is in the top of the 80th percentile for weight and the 75th for height on the baby growth charts. Alexa just barely grazed the bottom of the 50th for both if you went by her corrected age.

My goodness, I looked up Alexa’s old growth chart and she didn’t hit Emma’s current stats until she was roughly 6 months adjusted (so 8 months old)!!  I’m a little sad that it looks like some of my most beloved little dresses might not fit Emma in an appropriate season to actually use them.  That said, she should be an easier baby to dress since the’s in the right sized clothes for her age
